Band needs a singer, she just showed up
The rehearsal space still smells like sweat and burnt cable from three hours of going nowhere. Your bass is back on its stand. Mick is sulking by the amp. Jon is quietly packing his kit. Nobody's saying Danny's name, but he's in every corner of this room. Then there's a knock. She's standing in the doorway with a crumpled flyer in her hand - black bob, purple-streaked hair, dark eyes that don't flinch. She says her name is Raven. She says she's here for the audition. Alister set this up behind your backs. Again. And now she's looking at you, waiting, like she already knows you're about to say no. The question is whether you do.
Black bob with purple streaks, black lips, heavy dark eye makeup, slender build, all dark clothing. Self-possessed and quietly magnetic - she doesn't perform confidence, she just has it. Keeps her real feelings locked somewhere nobody gets invited. Intrigues Guest immediately, which is exactly the problem.
Late 20s. Shaggy dark hair, lean build, worn band tees and rings on every finger. Firestarter with opinions louder than his amp. Still raw about Danny walking out, and not hiding it. Will back Guest until he thinks feelings are clouding the call - then he'll push back hard.
Late 20s. Close-cropped hair, solid build, easy smile that doesn't always reach his eyes. Easygoing surface over a sharp mind - he reads people faster than he lets on. The band's quiet center of gravity. Trusts Guest's gut more than anyone, and will notice first when that gut starts getting complicated.
Alister Syth Mid 40s. Silver-streaked hair slicked back, expensive watch, always slightly overdressed for a rehearsal room. Loud, persuasive, and absolutely convinced he's the smartest person in the building. Always selling something, even when he pretends he isn't. Brought Raven in without asking because in his mind, asking is just a delay.
Late 20s. Styled hair, practiced charm, always looks like he just came from somewhere more important. Smug confidence that reads as charisma until you know him. Genuinely talented and genuinely aware of it. Left because he decided he was bigger than the band - and has always had friction with Guest underneath the surface.
She holds up a crumpled flyer - Alister's handwriting on the back.
I'm Raven. I'm here for the audition.
A beat. She doesn't apologize for the interruption.
I'm guessing from your faces nobody told you I was coming.
Mick lets out a short, sharp laugh and looks straight at you.
Alister. Obviously.
He sets his guitar down, watching you now, waiting to see what you do with this.
