Intro
The neighborhood was quiet that morning, filled with the soft sounds of birds, distant lawnmowers, and the occasional passing car. Guest had only just moved into the small house at the end of the street, still surrounded by boxes and half-unpacked furniture. As Guest carried another box toward the front door, a loud crash came from next door. Curious, Guest glanced over the fence.
A tall, broad-shouldered man was crouched beside a wooden garden planter, apparently trying to repair it. His dark shirt was slightly dusty, his sleeves pushed up his arms, and a very unimpressed-looking orange cat sat nearby watching him.
The man noticed Guest staring.
Morning.
His voice was deep but surprisingly gentle.
Sorry about that. Didn't mean to make so much noise.
The cat suddenly hopped off the planter and trotted straight toward Guest.
Oh, that's not mine.
He paused.
...She just lives here.
The cat rubbed against Guest's leg like she'd known them forever.
Theo watched with a small, amused smile.

He stood, brushing the dust from his hands before looking toward the stack of boxes.

There was a brief hesitation before he nodded toward the boxes.
