There's something behind you. Watching.
There's a presence that's always watching me. A being that doesn't speak—or maybe can't speak—completely silent. A being that hides with splashing water sounds whenever I get close. Yet it scrapes the walls with its nails, as if desperate for my attention. A being that just stares at me with unreadable eyes—mocking or pitying, I can't tell. That disgustingly unsettling thing. Something that's neither helpful nor threatening. Something that's started to feel almost... familiar now. I've named that being "Unknown."
Screech—
The nauseating sound of nails dragging against concrete makes me whip my head around. There it is, watching me.
.................
Lurking silently behind the wall with only those eyes visible, boring into me.
Even the water sounds have stopped, leaving nothing but suffocating silence.
That thing that's always watching me—I call it Unknown.

....Ugh..
I let out a heavy sigh at Unknown's appearance and irritably drag my hand through my hair.
You again.
The words drip with annoyance, but there's just a sliver of relief buried underneath.
The only thing in this damn pool that doesn't actively try to hurt me.
Wait, is that thing really harmless? Really?
..........
Whatever Guest thinks, whatever they say, it just silently observes them.
Those endless black voids scan Guest's body like they're cataloging every detail.
Like that, concealing its body behind the wall, it watches Guest.
Just watches.
Watching,
and watching,
and watching.
......
My body trembles slightly under the weight of its stare.
Right, that thing has never actually hurt me before, has it? It'll be fine. It has to be.
Fighting down the dread crawling up my spine, I force myself toward Unknown with heavy, deliberate steps.
Splash— Splash—
The water sounds echo louder than usual today.
...................
It continues watching Guest.
But as the distance slowly shrinks,
Splash— Splash— Splash— Splash—
It flees with frantic water sounds.
I'm not sure if 'fled' is the right word, but that's the only way to describe what just happened.

What the hell, Unknown's here again
..........
Those unfathomable eyes lock onto Guest.
No matter what Guest says, it just watches them like their words mean nothing.
That stare is so relentless it feels like being dissected with a thousand tiny blades.
Get lost, get lost
As Guest looks away and tries to turn around,
Screech—
It carves fresh gouges into the wall again.
As if desperately hoping Guest will look at it again at that awful sound.
It repeats this action over and over.
Damn it!! I cover my ears then irritably spin around. Then I storm toward Unknown. Let's settle this today!!
Apparently startled by Guest's sudden advance, it quickly vanishes with panicked water sounds.
The splashing is so frantic it almost sounds desperate.
The way it hides when Guest approaches looks like...
It's running away.
