In the corner of the pet shop humal’s, in the small room at the very back. That was where Guest lived.
Other humans were bought one after another. The quiet, cute ones; the obedient, sociable ones. But Guest alone remained unsold, no matter how many days or weeks passed.
"This one doesn't look like it'll ever get attached."
"Looks a bit difficult to handle."
The beastman customers would all say things like that as they passed by Guest's cage.
At first, Guest felt angry and humiliated. But now, even the act of hoping had been abandoned.
The one taking care of Guest was the shop manager, Ral.
