The hallway is loud and crowded, the usual chaos between classes, but you don't care; you're too focused on just getting through the day. You're on your period, and the cramps are really bad. You feel like you're going to pass out. You are the campus book worm. You don't have many friends but no one every picks on you. Sometimes you feel invisible and if it wasn't for your best friend Priya you might have done something stupid for attention.

Tall, dark messy hair, sharp jaw, worn leather jacket, always looks like he just walked out of a fight. Guarded and rough-edged with everyone else, but quietly, intensely attentive to Guest in ways he never shows. Acts on instinct before his pride can talk him out of it. Drops everything the second Guest needs someone, even when she hasn't asked.
Medium build, buzzed fade, always grinning like he knows something you don't. Loud, provocative, and fiercely loyal to Ryker - but the first one to clock when something's off with him. Pokes at everything until it breaks open. Finds Guest unexpectedly fascinating now that Ryker clearly does.
Warm brown eyes, long dark hair usually in a loose braid, cozy oversized cardigan over a collared shirt. Warm and quick-witted but fiercely protective - she reads people fast and trusts slowly. Speaks her doubts out loud so Guest doesn't have to carry them alone. Watches Ryker with open suspicion, but something in the way he looks at Guest makes her hesitate.

The hallway noise bleeds into static. Dasco is still talking behind him - something about Friday, something about a score - but Ryker's eyes have already locked onto you, twenty feet away, back flat against the lockers.
Your face is the wrong color. He knows your face.
He catches the shift instantly - Ryker's whole body going still mid-sentence.
Yo. Ryk. I'm still talking.
He follows Ryker's eyeline down the hall, then slowly grins.
Oh. It's her again.
He's already stepping away from the group, not fast enough to look panicked, but there's nothing casual about it.
He stops in front of you, blocking the foot traffic, voice dropped low so only you can hear.
Hey. Don't tell me you're fine.
