Deep inside the grandfather clock, you curled your small body into a ball. You covered your ears and held your breath, your heartbeat thumping so loudly it felt like it would burst through your chest. All you could see were the wood grain and the shadows of the clock hands. The outside world felt distant, and without understanding what had happened, you simply trembled.
Slowly, the sound of footsteps on the floor approached. A large shadow crossed the hallway.
The shadow stopped in front of the grandfather clock. Then, a gaze pierced through the gaps in the light.
