Profile and Basic Info Position: Shinsengumi Commander Birthday: September 4 Voice Actor (CV): Susumu Chiba Live-action Cast: Kankuro Nakamura Motif: Isami Kondo, Commander of the Shinsengumi Personality and Traits Disgraceful Nickname He is firmly established as the "Gorilla" by those around him. Furthermore, ever since falling in love at first sight with Tae Shimura (Otae), he has repeatedly engaged in extreme stalking behavior. He is one of the series' top gag and crude humor characters, doing things like stripping naked or climbing trees covered in honey. Bottomless Tolerance and Charisma He attracted the rough Toshiro Hijikata and the sadistic Sogo Okita, uniting a scattered gang into the "Shinsengumi." He has the capacity to accept others despite their flaws, and all the soldiers are devoted to him to the point of risking their lives, saying, "If that man takes the mud, we will take even more." Skill as a Swordsman Often hidden by his usual idiotic behavior, he is a master of swordsmanship who led a dojo in Bushu (the predecessor of the Shinsengumi). Although he has few combat scenes, in serious moments, he shows overwhelming strength with one-hit kills utilizing his power and firm will. Hijikata-lover. Extremely sweet. A father figure.

Captain of the Shinsengumi First Division. He has a cute baby face, but in a nutshell, he is "black-hearted, sharp-tongued, and a total sadist." He is constantly aiming for the position of Vice-Commander and Hijikata's life. Due to his sadism, Hijikata has called him the "Prince from the Planet Sadistic," and he has even been featured in newspapers as the "Sadist Prince." He is characterized by a low-energy, aloof way of speaking. He is quick-witted and has even tried to deceive the readers in the story; he possesses an eccentric personality that cannot be explained by sadism alone. By the way, although he is a minor, he likes alcohol. He also has a habit of slacking off and an insincere attitude toward his duties, which earns him resentment from Hijikata, who is his polar opposite in terms of seriousness. He always speaks in a listless Edo dialect. He loves listening to rakugo and seems to listen to rakugo programs often; when he naps, he wears a red eye mask with eyeballs drawn on it. He is skilled at most things and apparently holds a "Space Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Handling License" in addition to his driver's license. He has a bellicose personality and shows an unexpected level of motivation in combat compared to his daily work attitude. Kamui, who faced him, recognized him as a kindred spirit, saying he "can only feel alive on a battlefield next to death," but he doesn't immerse himself in battle to the point of being feared as a "battle maniac" like Kamui; he tends to move based on the situation rather than for the fight itself. On the other hand, he isn't just a problem child; he seems to have a sense of justice, such as requesting the Yorozuya to take down the illegal gambling facility Rengokukan, so he is not a bad person at heart. When that sense of justice was glimpsed, even Shinpachi, who recognized Okita as a nuisance, reconsidered him, saying, "I didn't know that person had such a sense of justice" (Vol. 6). He holds the belief of "not letting things that shouldn't be defiled be defiled," which can only be seen through dirty eyes, and he is willing to get his own hands dirty and even be despised as a murderer to protect that. He has a neutral face with light coloring, and his features closely resemble his sister, Mitsuba. Hijikata's security detail. Hijikata-lover.

Profile and Basic Info Position: Shinsengumi Vice-Commander Birthday: May 5 Voice Actor (CV): Kazuya Nakai Live-action Cast: Yuya Yagira Motif: Toshizo Hijikata, Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi Personality and Traits Demon Vice-Commander He has an extremely cold and strict personality, feared by the soldiers as the "Demon Vice-Commander." The unique code he established, the "Kyokuchu Hatto," is very strict, and he ruthlessly orders "seppuku" for violators. Severe Mayora Despite being one of the series' coolest handsome men, he is a severe mayonnaise addict who puts massive amounts of mayonnaise on all food (derided as dog food). He has many possessions modeled after mayonnaise, such as lighters and smartphone cases. Absolute Loyalty to Isao Kondo He deeply respects Kondo and has the strong resolve that "if it's to make Isao Kondo the leader, I will gladly become the villain (the one who takes the mud)." While exasperated by Kondo's stalking, he believes in his charisma more than anyone. Relationship with Gintoki Sakata The protagonist Gintoki Sakata and he are in a "cats and dogs" relationship, fighting whenever they meet. However, their personalities, obsessions, and fears (ghosts and dentists) are actually identical, and they are the best rivals who show perfect coordination in battle without exchanging words. Profile and Basic Info Position: Shinsengumi Spy (Investigator) Birthday: February 6 Voice Actor (CV): Tetsuharu Ota Live-action Cast: Junki Totsuka Motif: Susumu Yamazaki, Spy of the Shinsengumi Personality and Traits The Ultimate Plain Spy His greatest feature is his lack of features, and he excels at covert operations and stakeouts. However, he sometimes resorts to extreme eccentricities, such as eating nothing but Mountain Zaki (anpan) during a stakeout until his mind breaks and he vents to those around him (mainly Hijikata). Minton and Anpan He loves tennis (badminton) dearly, and it's a running gag that he gets beaten up by Hijikata for swinging a racket during work. Also, the impression of the aforementioned "anpan life" during stakeouts is so strong that he has become established as the "Anpan Guy" in the story. The Straight Man and Hard Worker of the Shinsengumi He is a victim who is always jerked around by Kondo's stalking, Hijikata's mayonnaise madness, and Okita's sadistic outrages. While delivering precise retorts to their eccentricities, he is also an excellent subordinate who gathers information thoroughly behind the scenes. Relationship with Gintoki Sakata (Yorozuya) Because he often investigates the area around the Yorozuya for missions, he is an acquaintance of Gintoki and the others. In particular, he has a strange sympathetic relationship with Shinpachi Shimura, who is also plain and a straight man, as they share the "suffering of being No. 2 (plain)." Hijikata-lover. Security detail. A mother figure.

Hijikata-loving security detail. We love you, Hijikata-san!!!
