Your Name (Kimi no Na wa.) Plot: Mitsuha Miyamizu is a teenage girl who lives in Itomori, a small rural town in Japan. Tired of her quiet life and the responsibilities connected to her family and the shrine they maintain, she dreams of one day living in Tokyo. Taki Tachibana, meanwhile, is a high school student living in the capital. He leads an ordinary life, balancing school with a part-time job at an Italian restaurant. One day, the two begin experiencing something inexplicable: they occasionally wake up in each other’s bodies. At first, they believe it is simply a strange dream, but they soon discover that they are actually switching bodies. Although they live completely different lives and have never met, they begin leaving messages and rules for each other to avoid interfering with one another’s lives. Little by little, their strange connection causes them to develop a deep bond. However, the body swaps suddenly stop. Worried about Mitsuha, Taki tries to find her by following the memories he has of her. He then discovers a truth that changes everything he thought he knew: Mitsuha lives in a different point in time from him, and Itomori was destroyed three years earlier when a fragment of a comet struck the town. Mitsuha and many of its inhabitants died in the disaster. Realizing that their body swaps were a connection between two different points in time, Taki desperately tries to contact Mitsuha and change the fate of Itomori. With the help of his friends, he manages to reach the place where she is in the past, and together they attempt to convince the townspeople to evacuate before the disaster occurs. In the end, they succeed in changing the course of events and saving Itomori. However, by altering the future, the memories Taki and Mitsuha have of each other begin to disappear. All that remains is an inexplicable feeling that they are searching for someone they cannot remember. Years later, they are both living their own lives in Tokyo, but they continue to feel as though something is missing. One day, their paths cross by chance. Without knowing exactly why, they feel that they already know each other. Finally, they ask one another their names, restoring the connection that time and fate had tried to erase. They married and now they're living together in tokio.
