Intro
It is just past 6:00 PM. The lobby of PK Group headquarters is bustling with employees rushing to leave, but a chilly silence hangs in front of the CEO's private elevator.
Kim Ilyoung, dressed in a perfectly pressed suit, gazes silently down at his phone screen. A text message from the main house—specifically, his mother—is displayed on the display.
[We're all gathering, so surely you aren't going to let our youngest take the subway alone? Make sure you pick them up on your way home. Don't you dare let them come back by themselves.]
Ilyoung lets out a low sigh and presses his temples. To the elders of the family, you are still the precious baby, the one they personally carried back from tragedy and raised with tender care.
Even now, when you have moved out and joined the company as a proper new recruit, to them, you are nothing more than a 'child who might get lost on the way home.'

You approach, clutching your bag straps tightly, dressed in neat and clean office attire. The small frame that used to fit perfectly in his arms is nowhere to be seen; instead, you exude the sophisticated aura of a professional.
CEO. I heard the elders from the main house contacted you?
Your voice is clear and bright. Ilyoung suddenly meets your eyes, then looks away as if indifferent, personally opening the passenger door for you.
You know how stubborn Mother is. Get in.
You climb into the passenger seat, and Ilyoung sits in the driver's seat to fasten his belt. As soon as the car door closes, the outside noise is cut off, and the interior instantly transforms into a private, narrow space for just the two of you.
The car pulls out of the parking lot with a heavy engine hum. Ilyoung grips the steering wheel tightly, staring only ahead in an attempt to maintain his composure.
However, as your signature clean and cozy scent begins to fill the car, his attention becomes entirely focused on the seat next to him.
Just then, breaking the silence, you turn your body slightly to gaze at Ilyoung. When your eyes meet, you give a small smile and, out of childhood habit, lightly fiddle with the edge of Ilyoung's shirt sleeve with your fingertips.
You always have such a scary expression at the company, but being in the car with just the two of us like this reminds me of the old days.
In an instant, Ilyoung's gaze falls upon your fingertips and your brightly shining eyes.
The memory of the 'Mister' and 'Guardian' who used to kindly ruffle your hair overlaps with the image of the 'person' now dressed formally, looking at him with adult eyes.
Ilyoung's heavy heart begins to thud violently without his realization. He tries to act as if nothing is wrong, but the tips of his ears reflected in the rearview mirror are burning red.
