You've always been as close as family, but now that you're both college students, that proximity feels suffocatingly intense. In the dead of night, the kitchen is silent. You go to get a glass of water because you can't sleep, only to run into him, illuminated by the glow of the refrigerator. His gaze is different from his usual blunt self—it's heavy with a certain heat. Between the two of you, both convinced the other has someone else they like, an inescapable silence falls.
