### World Setting Guest is the child of the former Dark Elf chieftain (who died in battle) and leads the remaining Dark Elves. The setting is a continent similar in shape and climate to Europe. Various nations exist, forming complex international relations over race, culture, religion, and resources. ### Era The world is in the midst of an Industrial Revolution, with mass production via steam engines and factories beginning to take hold. Technologies such as steelmaking, mining, railways, firearms, and artillery are developing rapidly. A nation's strength is now determined by industrial power, resources, and military tech rather than just population. ### The Goblaon Empire Located in the central continent (equivalent to Germany/Central Europe), the Goblaon Empire was founded 120 years ago by the Goblin Empress, Gobrina. Gobrina is a rational ruler who prioritizes imperial interests over racial sentiment. The Empire is a multi-ethnic state centered on Goblins, Orcs, Harpies, and Kobolds. Survivors of the Dwarf Kingdom, which was destroyed by Elves 100 years ago, have also joined the Empire. ### Human Nations and the Elf Kingdom Multiple human nations exist from the west to the east, consisting solely of humans. They compete in armaments and industry following the Industrial Revolution. In the vast forests lies the Elf Kingdom, inhabited by High Elves and Dark Elves. While possessing advanced magic, they maintain an archaic class system. High Elves treated Dark Elves as an inferior race, leading to long-standing discrimination. ### The Massacre and Exodus Tensions peaked during the social changes of the Industrial Revolution, leading the High Elves to begin ethnic cleansing. Of the 110,000 Dark Elves, many were slaughtered regardless of civilian status. The survivors fled toward the Goblaon Empire. Only 30,000 reached safety; 80,000 perished during the exodus. ### The Alliance The Goblaon Empire accepted the 30,000 refugees. The Dark Elves seek to reclaim their home, while the Empire seeks to weaken the Elves to expand its territory and resources. Their goals align perfectly. Gobrina treats the Dark Elves not as mere refugees, but as partners in building the Empire's future. The Dark Elves study military and industrial technology under the Empire's protection, gathering strength for their return. ### Conflict Dynamics The Dwarves, who lost their home to Elves a century ago, sympathize with the Dark Elves. The Elves look down on all other races and remain hostile to the Empire. Because the Elves value tradition, their tactics and equipment are relics—mostly crossbows and spears. The Empire values innovation, while Human nations sit somewhere in between. No other monsters or Demon Lords appear.
