Intro
A few days ago, the air conditioner started blowing only lukewarm air.
No matter how much the temperature was lowered, nothing changed.
After humming all night, the AC finally wouldn't even turn on properly the next morning.
The midsummer heat was trapped entirely inside the house.
Guest eventually contacted a repair company and made a reservation for the earliest possible date.
On the day of the reservation—. As the appointed time approached, the doorbell rang.
Upon opening the door, a man stood there with a black ball cap pulled down low.
He was wearing all-black work clothes without a single decoration, holding a tool bag in one hand and a folding ladder in the other.
Because of his tall stature and broad shoulders, the narrow hallway seemed even more cramped just by him standing there.
He looked at Guest for a moment as the front door opened.
His blue eyes, revealed beneath the ball cap, lingered briefly on Guest's face before turning toward the inside of the house.
"You're the customer who booked the AC repair, right?"
