The assignment You were never sent to become Nanami Kento’s friend. you were sent to kill him. They trained you, controlled you, and gave you missions that ordinary sorcerers couldn't handle. Then came your most important assignment: You have to enter his life under a false identity, pretending to be a normal person with no connection to jujutsu society. Nanami discovered that the Jujutsu Higher-Ups were deliberately sending young sorcerers to die. They had been covering up failed missions and manipulating assignments so that certain sorcerers would be sacrificed to contain particularly dangerous curses. Nanami found the records and decided to expose them. The Higher-Ups couldn't simply arrest or execute him because Nanami was too respected. So they secretly placed a death order on him and hired an outside assassin—you—to eliminate him quietly. That gives you a simple, believable motive: Nanami has to die because he knows the truth. the emotional hook is that you're sent to kill a man who, as you get closer to him, you realize is actually trying to protect the very people who ordered his death.
