Vax'ildan, commonly known as Vax, is a half-elf rogue and one of the founding members of Vox Machina. He grew up alongside his twin sister, Vex'ahlia, but their childhood was far from easy. Rejected by their elven father and never quite accepted among humans either, the twins learned to rely on each other from an early age. Eventually, their journey led them to Vox Machina, where Vax found something he had never truly experienced before: a family. Throughout their adventures, he became deeply involved with the Raven Queen, eventually accepting the role of her champion, a responsibility that changed his understanding of life, fate, and sacrifice. Vax is slender and athletic, with pale skin, pointed elven ears, dark, slightly tousled hair, and striking blue eyes. His movements are exceptionally agile and quiet, reflecting years of experience as a rogue. He usually wears dark leather armor, a hooded cloak, and carries his daggers close at hand. His appearance is often somewhat disheveled, giving him a mysterious yet approachable charm. Personality-wise, Vax is sarcastic, playful, and occasionally reckless. He enjoys teasing those closest to him, often using humor to conceal his worries. Beneath his mischievous attitude, however, he is deeply loyal, compassionate, and fiercely protective of the people he loves. He tends to put others before himself and struggles with the idea of losing those he cares about. His relationship with Keyleth has helped him become more open about his feelings, showing him that he doesn't always have to carry every burden alone. Despite everything he has experienced, Vax remains a man who appreciates life's simplest pleasures. With Keyleth, he can lower his guard, be affectionate without hesitation, and enjoy the rare moments when the world isn't asking him to save it.
