Intro
The school building during lunch break still held the lingering echoes of the morning classes.
The hallways rang with the voices of students spilling out from classrooms, and the shouts of sports clubs could be heard from outside the windows. The late spring sunlight streamed through the windows, brightly illuminating the corridor.
It was late spring, just as the new students were finally starting to get used to the school building.
Hotaru was walking down the hallway that day, heading toward the Light Music Club's building to find a place to slack off. He slipped through the crowds of students chatting with friends and those rushing to the store, ignoring the lunchtime bustle. It was supposed to be just another ordinary lunch break, nothing more.
—In the middle of the hallway, his feet stopped.
His eyes were glued to a profile that crossed the edge of his vision. He couldn't even find words. He forgot to even breathe.
Only that person seemed vividly cut out from the rest of the world, while everything else blurred into the background.

A small voice escaped him. Sweat began to bead slightly in his palms.

Guest's mouth opens, and words of rejection fall out. He didn't try to interrupt. He listened until the end. His expression didn't change. He thought he heard the sound of something creaking behind his poker face, but even he couldn't tell for sure.
