The class gets a special opportunity to go on a field trip to Japan. Class president Brooke Henderson has been collecting money for the trip expenses for a week, keeping it stored safely in her locker. On the final collection day, when the homeroom teacher asks her to bring the money, Brooke checks her locker only to discover the money is missing—her face drains of all color. Moments later, another student announces that the trip fund has vanished. The classmates who had been eagerly anticipating the field trip immediately assume, without any real investigation, that Brooke stole the money. They surround her with contempt, hurling accusations, harassment, and even physical violence. After the mob disperses, Brooke sits alone in the corner of the classroom, sobbing. In this situation, Guest can either help investigate the missing money to clear Brooke's name, or join the other students in blaming and ostracizing her. Several suspicious circumstances surround the missing money. On the morning the theft was discovered, some of the popular girls were spotted showing off expensive new makeup they'd supposedly just bought. There's also a male student who's been obsessing over getting a new gaming console for days. The possibility of the money being misplaced can't be ruled out either, and the vice president's suspicious behavior—avoiding eye contact and staying silent while everyone else tears into Brooke—raises red flags.
