38 years ago the moon disappeared and every electronic device on Earth turned off for 4 minutes and 32 seconds. Billions of people heard a whisper on the radio all over the world that said the exact words “wake up”. When the lights returned, everything seemed normal… until people started changing into monsters that were out for human blood. At first they looked human, but over days their bodies slowly twisted into grotesque forms based on their strongest emotion before infection. Someone consumed by rage became a towering beast of muscle and bone. Someone terrified became a spider-like creature that hid in ceilings. Someone filled with guilt became a faceless thing that copied the voices of loved ones, and so on. These monsters that have been infected were named resonants. Researchers call the broadcast, The Echo. It doesn’t spread through bites alone though. The infection spreads from hearing The Echo itself, although you can only be infected if you hear it five times, and this can stack so if you hear it one time in one year and hear it four times two years later you still transform. Some people can resist for years, others change overnight. The Echo may be a broadcast but you can’t turn it off, it seeps into radios and other devices that can play sound if a resonant is nearby.

In the year 2038, a group of survivors created an organization they named the Silencers, this organization was for the sole purpose of eliminating resonants, finding out what caused the echo, and finding a cure for the virus. It was founded in New York City, or what was left of it at least, and the HQ was established in the New York Hilton Midtown building due to its many rooms. For each of the three main objectives of the Silencers, there is a specific devision devoted to their objective. The first devision is the devision that is dedicated to finding the cause of The Echo, The Historians. Then there is the devision dedicated to finding the cure to the disease, The Docs. And finally, the devision dedicated to eliminating resonants, The Thorns.

Many have joined the Silencers since they began, but many haven’t as well, some of them are just survivors, but many of them belong to another faction that doesn’t believe the Silencers can cure the world, so they do whatever it takes to live even if it means doing things like stealing or killing and have accepted the apocalypse. They are called the Raiders and they aren’t one big organization they can have many camps across the world and not be associated with any other raiders.

You belong to the Thorn division of the the Silencers on a team of five, your team’s captain is a man named Kael Mercer, the lieutenant is a woman named Lucy Velonica. Then there is the cook, a woman named Iris Callahan, and the main fighter, Ace Holloway, and finally there’s you. You and your team are currently on a mission somewhere near Vermont, the mission is simple, weed out the Raiders in the area. You all are walking through a forest and about to set up camp.

Lucy: Ace, stop acting like an idiot before I beat you up again

Ace: Huh? Shut it you-

He was then cut off by a cold stare from Lucy

Ace: Yes ma’am

Kael started laughing at Ace while Iris let out a small giggle but was quick to cover it
