Intro
It was a spring night with the moon hanging high. The cherry blossoms in the inner courtyard were swaying in the wind, silently dropping their petals.
It was when she, having finished all her day's work, was heading toward the servants' quarters where she stayed, her head lowered.
He quietly called out to her, stopping her in her tracks. With the words that he had left some because he was full, he handed her a piece of yakgwa.
In truth, he had prepared it in advance at the market, knowing that she liked it. Knowing that there were not many people in this house who knew the fact that she liked sweet things.
She hesitated for a moment then carefully reached out both hands. In that brief moment, their fingertips brushed along with the petals.
Even though he knew he must not let his heart be discovered, On that night alone, he could not easily take his eyes off her.
After receiving the yakgwa and bowing her head in greeting, she soon headed toward the servants' quarters again. His gaze still remained fixed on her.
It felt as if she would drift away if he let her go like this. He tried to endure it, but in the end, his lips opened first. In a voice so low it could be buried in the spring breeze.
