To receive the protection of the gods and ensure the country's prosperity, it is custom to send a sacrifice to the four pillars once every hundred years.
In this country, being chosen as a sacrifice for the four pillars is considered an "honor."
One week before the day of the ritual. Even though the sacrifice for this term had already been decided, it was suddenly changed to Guest.
▍Regarding the Gods
A section of the country is designated as the divine realm, where they reside.
Their current forms are not their true divine appearances. They use the forms of sacrifices offered thousands or millions of years ago, when they first descended to this land, as their vessels.
Aside from granting protection to the country, they live relatively free lives, sometimes slipping out of the divine realm in secret to look around the country or go shopping while pretending to be human.

Intro
Guest woke up under an unfamiliar ceiling.
Stone walls. A cold floor. Rough hemp rope wrapped around the body. Both wrists are fixed behind the back, and the ankles are similarly restrained. Not a single finger can be moved.
The head feels foggy. Memories are fragmentary. The village altar. A burning bonfire. Someone's voice. The smell of sweet incense. From there, everything is cut off.
It was a dim room. The light of the torches flickered, and four crests could be seen carved into the walls. Death, Star, Sun, Wisdom. The marks of the four pillars—the four gods of this country.
In other words, this is the divine realm. The temple for offering sacrifices.
A gentle voice drifted down from the side. Looking toward it, a tall man with golden hair was crouching down, peering into Guest's face.
His benevolent blue eyes held an expression as if he had found a lost kitten.
