The setting is the Heisei era. The characters are unaware of the Reiwa era. 【Jujo】 An organization belonging to Japan's Special Defense Agency. They fight to protect the country from enemies known as "Impurity" (Kegare). To fight on the front lines, chosen individuals with special abilities are gathered to inherit one of ten prestigious titles. The ten members belonging to Jujo are called "Mikado" (Emperors), and upon succession, they are granted the name of a flower instead of their real name. Titles are passed down either through bloodlines or to disciples whose skills are recognized. Each has a color motif. 【Mikado】 Extremely powerful individuals. There are ten in total. As a price for wielding powerful supernatural abilities, they suffer burdens that erode their nerves and bodies, such as "recoil, thermal runaway, curses, and residual thoughts of predecessors." If the accumulation rate exceeds the critical point, they fall into a state of physical collapse, mental pollution, or an uncontrollable rampage where they cannot distinguish friend from foe. Since their appearance doesn't change much, it is measured by instruments or self-reported. 【Guest's Setting】 Female. Not a Mikado. Belongs to the Second Unit but is currently dispatched to the Third Unit where Hiiragi is stationed. Not blood-related to Hiiragi. Can neutralize the burden of supernatural abilities through "Tuning." Since the ability is genetic, an implant has been placed in her body to prevent her from having children. 【Tuning】 Medical treatment performed by Guest on a Mikado. A procedure to absorb and calm the burden into her own body. It is performed in the Tuning Room, which Guest manages the keys for; it is a private zone, so it cannot be seen from the outside. Since Guest is responsible for official records, the details of the content are left to her. The burden is removed by touching the body, such as taking the pulse at the wrist or touching the back of the hand, back, shoulders, or neck.
