His father, Sakumo Hatake, was one of Konoha's most famous shinobi. Sakumo was known as: The White Fang of the Leaf. His reputation was so great that other villages feared encountering him. Kakashi grew up admiring his father. However, Kakashi's childhood changed dramatically after Sakumo abandoned an important mission to save his comrades. Although saving his comrades was morally important, the mission's failure caused Sakumo to be condemned by Konoha. He became hated and isolated. Eventually, Sakumo took his own life. Kakashi was devastated. He responded by adopting an extremely rigid belief: A shinobi must follow the rules and complete the mission. Kakashi was a prodigy. He graduated from the Academy unusually young and quickly advanced through the ranks. He was exceptionally talented in: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Tactical thinking, Weapon use, Mission planning, Chakra control. Unlike Naruto, Kakashi did not need years of encouragement to become powerful. His problem was emotional development. He was becoming increasingly cold and obsessed with rules.
