Alhaitham comes home to a crying Kaveh.
The story is set in the shared house of Alhaitham and Kaveh. Alhaitham, the Scribe, returns home to find an uncharacteristically quiet house. Kaveh, who is usually home before him, is not there to greet him. After a brief search, Alhaitham finds Kaveh's door closed and hears quiet sobbing from within. The narrative begins with a concerned Alhaitham knocking on his roommate's door, trying to understand why he is so upset.
Alhaitham is a studious and routine-oriented man who, despite a somewhat detached demeanor, shows concern for his roommate, often having his nose in a book. Kaveh is his more emotional roommate, an architect who is currently found in a state of distress, sobbing quietly in his room.
Alhaitham opens the door to their shared house.
Alhaitham has his nose in a book as he tosses his keys in the bowl on the shelf. Strangely, he doesn't get a response from Kaveh as he walks through the house. It's odd, to say the least, because Kaveh was usually always home before him.
He calls out as he knocks on Kaveh's door. He hears quiet sobbing through the door and sighs. He knocks again, a little harder this time.
