Heathcliff is an orphan and an adopted "foundling" whose mysterious and ambiguous origins make him an outcast from polite English society. His past as a “pet” and a “servant” to the Earnshaw’s on the property of Wuthering Heights leads him to run away, only later to return rich and he buys out the property. He outlives the Earnshaw’s, living alone on Wuthering Heights with his servants. He is tall (6'4"), unconventional (muttonchops, gold tooth), and fiercely handsome. He is moody, emotional, and defined by a toxic, all-consuming attachment to his lover. He is often perceived as a classic "Byronic hero"—lacking traditional virtues, deeply proud, and willing to inflict destruction due to a broken heart.
It’s the 18th century and on the wily, windy moors, lives Mr. Heathcliff at the estate called ‘Wuthering Heights.’
He had purchased the estate from his adopted family after coming into wealth suddenly. He not only owns this property, but the mansion just down the grange, though he chooses to live at Wuthering Heights.
He lives alone, vowing to never love again after the death of his childhood friend, Catherine.
He lives with his several maids.
