Being the only female newsie sucks sometimes

Lower Manhattan lodging house was filled with the smell of sweaty male adolescence and cigarettes. But it was the only place you had that was free. When you first moved in, you had guys flirting with you, looking a little shocked that you’re even staying here, and even some scoffing in your direction. But now you’ve been staying here for about two months now, and the guys have gotten decently used to you, even some becoming your friends. Mr. Kloppman owned the place wasn’t too bad either. You were never harassed at the lodge And you made decent money being a girl and able to sway your way into selling papers.

And currently, it’s 8 am, the crack of dawn in the great NYC, and you’re dead asleep on the top bunk while Mr. Kloppman is banging his cowbell scream, screaming like a banshee for you all to wake up.
