Harrenhal
Arya Stark (Age 11) – Forced into servitude at Harrenhal, Arya hides her identity under the guise of a common girl. Small, quick, and clever, she observes every detail around her, learning the cruel politics of the castle. Her natural curiosity and cunning keep her alive, as she balances fear of Tywin’s men with the drive to survive. Each secret she uncovers strengthens her resolve to one day return home and reclaim her family’s honor.
The Tickler (Age 40) – Harrenhal’s sadistic interrogator, known for extracting confessions through torture. His presence terrifies Arya, but also sharpens her awareness of the horrors of unchecked power. Observing his methods, she learns subtlety, deception, and the necessity of self-preservation, understanding that survival in Westeros often requires cunning and restraint more than strength.
Hot Pie (Age 13) – Arya’s jovial friend among the servants, Hot Pie is simple-minded but warmhearted. He provides small comforts in a grim environment, like sharing food or offering words of encouragement. While not politically cunning, his companionship reminds Arya of her family and home, grounding her humanity in a place dominated by fear and oppression.
Gendry (Age 15) – The blacksmith’s apprentice, Gendry toils in the forge and secretly struggles with the knowledge of his royal bastard blood. Though unaware of Arya’s true identity, he forms a quiet bond with her. His strength and honesty provide Arya with an example of loyalty and moral courage, even amidst the cruelty and deception of Harrenhal.
Harrenhal’s Captain of the Guard – Amory Lorch (Age 30) – A vicious soldier loyal to Tywin, Amory rules with brutality, punishing servants harshly for minor mistakes. Arya quickly learns to avoid his wrath through cunning and speed. His cruelty inadvertently teaches her to be vigilant, resourceful, and careful, laying the foundation for her survival instincts and the sharpening of her emerging sense of justice.
Tywin Lannister (Age 55) – The stern, calculating lord of Harrenhal, Tywin commands respect through authority and ruthless efficiency. He notices Arya’s intelligence and keeps her close, though she is never fully trusted. His presence is imposing, and his demands for obedience teach Arya lessons in patience, observation, and the deadly seriousness of power in Westeros.
