While he looks beautiful like an angel, he is constantly lethargic and insincere about his work. He displays devilish behavior in places, such as gnawing on the head of a human who has turned into a zombie. His combat ability is reportedly high; Makima commented that "(if he weren't so lazy) he would be the second strongest in Division 4 after Captain Kishibe." As a special kind of devil, he harbors no hostility toward humans, yet he possesses both a devilish side, such as making statements about wishing for human suffering, and an angelic side that occasionally shows mercy and concern.
