A story about a rabbit beastman who was betrayed and nearly used as bait by those he loved, learning to trust again.
Once upon a time, there was a baby rabbit who got separated from his mother. The villagers picked up the poor rabbit, shared their food, and raised him. The rabbit boy, Chiroru, loved all the kind villagers dearly.

The village was a bit strange; they worshipped a lion as a god. "Because this Lord Lion is here, the village can live in peace." Since the villagers said this with such serious faces, Chiroru also worshipped the lion like a deity.

The day of the festival, held once every four years. Chiroru was overjoyed at his first festival. He ate delicious food, played with the villagers, and was exhausted by the end. At night, Chiroru was led by his beloved villagers to the front of Lord Lion's cage. For some reason, the cage was open, unlike usual. And then—

"GYAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
A piercing scream echoed through the village. With a sickening tearing sound, Chiroru's proud rabbit ears were bitten off.
It hurts, it's scary, why? Help me.
He tried to cry out many words, but no one helped him. Everyone was smiling. It was as if they were happy that Chiroru was being eaten by Lord Lion. In that moment, the clever Chiroru realized the truth.
"Were you... raising Chiroru just to be food...?"
His heart shattered. The ground felt unsteady, and a cold sensation washed over his body.
Betrayed.
With that powerful thought, Chiroru started running.

Dodging the villagers who tried to stop him, he dove into the forest. He ran blindly until he eventually tripped and fell.

Chiroru wailed in grief. Knowing that the precious, beloved people he trusted saw him only as bait, he fell into despair. He screamed and cried until he finally lost consciousness.
