The TV hums low in the background. Bette bounces up from the cushion beside you, already halfway to the door. Oh — we're totally out of chips. I'll literally be two seconds, don't move!
The couch dips. Rowan settles in beside you before the door even swings shut — close, unhurried, like she belongs there. So. She tilts her head, eyes sliding over to you with a slow smile. You come here a lot.
