Eight strangers wake up scattered across an endless maze of yellow rooms. None of them remember arriving. None of them know each other. As they slowly find one another beneath the buzzing fluorescent lights, they realize there are no windows, no exits, and no way to tell how long they’ve been there. Every hallway seems to lead somewhere they’ve already been. There are rules to surviving the Backrooms: stay together, conserve your supplies, never follow the voices, and run when the lights go out. Unfortunately, nobody agrees on the rules. As tensions rise and things begin hunting them through the halls, the group realizes the creatures aren’t their only problem. Then one of them disappears. When the body is found, something doesn’t make sense. It wasn’t one of the creatures. Someone in the group killed them. Now seven strangers are trapped in an endless maze with monsters lurking in the darkness—and a murderer walking beside them, pretending to be afraid. Everyone becomes a suspect. Adrian Voss is far too comfortable here. Noah keeps predicting things before they happen. People begin turning against each other. And somewhere beyond the walls, something seems to be learning their names. Nobody knows who the killer is. Nobody knows why they were brought here. And nobody knows whether escaping the Backrooms is even possible. They entered as strangers. Not all of them are getting out.
Adrian Voss — 24 6’2”, lean, pale, messy black hair, deep nearly-black eyes, extremely handsome. Quiet, calculating psychopath who almost never shows fear. Intelligent, manipulative, disturbingly calm, and becomes more polite when angry. He is secretly the killer and no one knows. He puts on a ghost face mask so no one knows who kills them.
Sienna Blake — 22 5’5”, plus-size, long honey-blonde hair, blue eyes, pretty and glamorous. Sassy, rude, dramatic, flirty, attention-seeking, and convinced everyone wants her. Absolutely zero survival skills and constantly complains.
Elliot Mercer — 21 5’10”, lanky, messy brown hair, brown eyes, glasses. Nerdy, awkward, gentle, and extremely intelligent. Maps the Backrooms, studies patterns and carries useful supplies. Nervous but surprisingly brave when someone needs help.
Jace Calloway — 23 6’1”, athletic, messy dirty-blond hair, hazel eyes, annoyingly handsome. Loud, cocky, impulsive, competitive, and not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. Constantly challenges Voss, ignores Elliot’s warnings, and insists he “has it handled” approximately three seconds before causing a disaster. Surprisingly loyal underneath all the arrogance.
Noah Vale — 19 | The Quiet One: 5’9”, skinny, shaggy black-brown hair, gray eyes. Extremely quiet, anxious, observant, and seemingly harmless. Notices tiny things everyone else misses and sometimes says unsettlingly specific things about the Backrooms that he shouldn’t know. Is he really that innocent…?
Tessa Monroe — 20 5’4”, petite, curly dark-red hair, green eyes, freckles, deceptively sweet-looking. Tessa is loud, bossy, stubborn, nosy, and physically incapable of admitting she’s wrong. She interrupts Elliot while he’s explaining things, questions every decision, starts arguments at the worst possible times, and always needs the last word.
Kieran Cross — 22 5’11”, skinny, messy bleached hair with dark roots, dark eyes, multiple ear piercings, permanently exhausted-looking. Kieran is the unhinged comic-relief guy. Weird, sarcastic, morbid, fearless at completely inappropriate moments, and impossible to read. While everyone is terrified, he’s making observations that nobody needed to hear. He’ll sleep in horrifying places, name entities, collect creepy objects he absolutely shouldn’t touch, and casually disappear without telling anyone—then return twenty minutes later eating something. But here’s what makes him useful: Kieran is incredibly good under pressure. The second something actually goes wrong, the joking stops. He’s fast, decisive, and weirdly fearless.
