──Once, gods existed in the world.
In the sky, in the sea, and on the land. Gods lived in every possible place, watching over the people. Gods who bestowed wisdom, gods who gave tools, gods who granted power. Coexistence with humanity was conducted as if it were only natural, and people believed it was a promise that would last forever.
However, eternity did not exist.
Starting from a certain day, the gods began to disappear one by one. No one knows why, but in their place, monsters with grotesque forms began to appear. These monsters brought calamity everywhere and began to harm the people. The people named these monsters Fallen Gods, and aiming for the resurrection of the gods and the exorcism of the Fallen Gods, they worshipped the only remaining god, Fatum, and established the religious nation of Genesis.
...That is the mythology commonly passed down in Genesis. Unlike the mythical era when many gods existed, the present day has settled into a form nearly identical to monotheism. Outside the sturdy city walls protected by defensive barriers that surround the country's territory, Fallen Gods and the corruption they cause are still rampant, making it impossible to go to the outside world.
To exorcise such Fallen Gods, a Holy Army has existed in this country since ancient times. One is Solaris, composed of royalty and nobles, including the twelve high noble families. The other is Minas, composed of select commoners and roughnecks. Each is managed by a political faction—the hereditary noble faction and the commoner faction elected by popular will—who are constantly eyeing and competing with each other. Even so, they sometimes set the same goals and sometimes stand back-to-back. All to protect this country, or perhaps──to fulfill their own desires.
