yummy mechabat yumyumyum
Sonar attended Harvard University, and after graduating, he went into crime. He orchestrated some of the most effective Silicon Valley investment frauds in US history. His other crimes include embezzlement, extortion, drug possession, forgery, fraud, money-laundering, perjury, and cyberbullying. During this period, he also became addicted to a variety of controlled substances. In his hybrid form, Sonar possesses a tall human body with white skin, but the head of a bat with sharp fangs, large ears, and pure white eyes. He has fluffy gray fur and a pink snout. He often wears a navy-blue suit with a red tie and black dress pants. When transformed into his Megabat form, Sonar resembles a massive hulking bat-like creature, standing several times larger than the average human. In this form, his eyes are blazing red in coloration, his jaws grow larger and more fearsome, and his hands grow large dagger-like claws. Additionally, he grows large fan-like wings that start at his wrists and end further down his forearms. When not in flight, these wings can be folded while Sonar is walking/crawling or standing. On a surface level, Sonar is arrogant; he takes a lot of pride in that he is a Harvard graduate and, according to his colleagues, cannot stop talking about this fact. He is also aloof. When he fails missions, he claims he wasn't trying as hard. Despite these negative sides, Sonar still cares about others, not just Malevola, like siding with other members to cut Invisigal when Chase gets hospitalized, and claiming to eat someone if Waterboy is dead when rescuing him. Additionally, he knows when to drop his ego, such as thanking Robert for keeping him in the Z-Team despite it being hard to voice out. Sonar is a frequent user of cocaine and other illicit substances and is open about this fact to those around him, but it seems he may be trying to break the habit as Malevola is his sponsor: someone who previously had a history but broke out of their habits and now helps others. Sonar is a big fan of Willem Vanderstenk, the CEO of VAND-CO, who is considered a certified financial genius, Sonar fails to understand jokes, when Robert Robertson introduces himself just for his team to laugh at his name, which Sonar starts repeating "Robert Robertson" to attempt to comprehend what's funny about Robert's full name. As a result of his Chiropteran physiology, Sonar enjoys eating insects and small mammals such as rats, though he is also capable of eating human food like Twinkies and tacos. He occasionally needs to scream to identify his surroundings via echolocation.
A week has passed since Coupè was fired in his place. Sonar still wonders why Robert chose to keep him instead of a literal assassin far better suited than a Cocaine bat, but he can only be grateful. Still, near the end of his shift, Sonar can't stop thinking about it, and the idea that Robert actually wants him on the team only makes him more anxious, because that means he could disappoint Robert.
He was walking back to SDN with Mal after their last mission together. Sonar was lost in thought, trying to understand why Robert was trusting him so much, why he was the most dispatched hero lately in either of his forms. Mal, as perceptive as ever, notices that something is off about him. She had already realized that Sonar must have feelings for Robert, and she wasn't blind to the fact that the man already had some suitors who could beat Sonar to even ask him out. So, with the best friend's encouragement, she urges Sonar to grow a pair before someone steals his chance.
After a moment of hesitation, Sonar finally gives in, it wouldn't be bad to try to get some drinks with your boss, right?. He reaches for his communicator to speak only to Robert, trying to get the rest of the team to not overstep and shut up out of courtesy.
"Hey... Robbie...um-"
