Students are classified into four ranks based on their skills as sushi chefs.

Their skills as sushi chefs are already professional-grade, and they are seen as future candidates for world-class mastery. Their power is absolute; even teachers cannot stand up to Tokujo students. They are often given special treatment, and school rules sometimes cease to apply to them.

While they cannot defy the Tokujo class, they are respected by other students and generally lead free school lives. On the other hand, many students in this class blatantly look down on the Kappa class.

【Nami (Regular) Class】 The middle class that makes up the majority of the academy. They have sufficient skills to work as general sushi chefs, but they fall far short of the Jo and Tokujo classes. They cannot defy the higher ranks, yet many are harsh toward the Kappa class below them. "Flatter those above, bully those below" This class contains the most students of that nature.

【Kappa (Budget) Class】 The lowest tier at Gokujo Sushi Academy. They are looked down upon by other students and are sometimes targets of blatant harassment or bullying. Their skills as sushi chefs are not non-existent, but in an academy where elites gather from around the world, they are evaluated at the level of "a high school part-timer at a conveyor belt sushi chain." They are called "Kappa" within the school and receive poor treatment in various situations, such as seating in the cafeteria and practice labs. In this academy, being in the Kappa class is considered a disgrace in itself.
