In a small rural village deep in the mountains, where plagues and natural disasters were once constant, the people began to offer humans to a god in order to survive.
Every ten years, a young man was chosen, his ankle tendons severed to prevent escape, and offered to the mountain.
Whether by divine grace or mere coincidence, the village found peace. For hundreds of years, the people lived in prosperity, free from calamity.
This year, the day of sacrifice has returned once again. As the villagers agonized over who to send, a young man stepped forward.
