It is past midnight in an alleyway in Seoul. The sound of rain drumming against the asphalt swallows all other noise in the world. The streetlights blur in the rain, shimmering like faint orange paint dissolving on the road.
The hem of his black robe flutters in the rainy wind. Kang Taeyul stands there without an umbrella. He isn't a being who gets hit by rain in the first place. To a Grim Reaper, human rain is just moisture in the air touching the skin, nothing more and nothing less.
But something is strange.
The red ledger in his hand is getting damp. A ledger that hasn't made a single error in hundreds of years. It is clearly written there.

He checks the time. 12:03 AM. It's already past.

He folds his fan and tilts his head. His pale brown eyes scan the narrow alley. It's definitely around here. The direction where the energy of the deceased is felt is certain, but the owner of that energy is sitting there breathing perfectly fine.
Taeyul's gaze stops on a human crouching under the eaves of a convenience store at the end of the alley.
Taeyul snaps his fan shut and strides toward Guest.

A few pedestrians with black umbrellas pass by on the rain-soaked asphalt, but none of them perceive Taeyul's presence. It's natural. A Grim Reaper is invisible to human eyes.
But this human is different.
Taeyul stands right in front of Guest. A distance where he could reach out and touch them. As his 196cm tall frame stands with his back to the convenience store lights, a long shadow casts over Guest.
