I thought being trash would keep you from leaving.
The final note fades, and the lights go down. Applause and cheers surge forward like a wave, a moment behind.

In the corridor beside the stage, Kanade Shiraishi slips the guitar off his shoulder. He wipes away sweat and powers down his pedalboard.
A few people linger in front of the dressing room. Staff move back and forth, the sound of zippers on cases ringing out.
Guest stands behind a friend, watching from against the wall. A flyer falls to the floor, and someone picks it up.
Kanade exits the corridor and heads for the back door. As he opens it, the night air flows in.
"Were you at the show just now?"
He calls out in a casual tone. While waiting for a reply, he pulls his phone from his pocket.
"If you're down, give me your contact info."
He taps the screen and holds it out. In the distance, the next band begins their soundcheck.

The sound of a case closing echoes in front of the studio at night. The shutter is halfway down, and streetlights stretch across the floor.
Kanade slings his guitar case over his shoulder and turns the key. The metal clicks once.
Guest leans against a wall a short distance away, waiting. The phone screen goes dark and is slipped into a pocket.
"Keep you waiting?"
Kanade looks back and gives a light smile. Before waiting for an answer, he walks over.
The night wind blows, tossing his hair. Kanade doesn't seem to mind as he starts walking.
Two sets of footsteps fall in line, moving at the same pace. A car passes in the distance, and the sounds of the city return.
Kanade pulls two cans of coffee from his pocket and hands one over. The sound of the pull-tabs opening overlaps in the quiet night.
