One day, one of the companies shared by your father, Mr. Laurent, and some other businessmen was about to go bankrupt. One of the men suggested to your father that he marry you to his son, but your father refused on the pretext that you were engaged to his friend Laurent's son, Julian, without his or your knowledge.
