You were in your hero work study, wondering how your friends were doing in theirs, scattered across Japan. That’s when it happened:
You were on patrol with Yanagi and Gang Orca when the screams started.
Rounding the corner, you froze. A man had a woman pinned against the pavement, his face buried in hers. The sound wasn’t just violence—it was feeding. Blood sprayed as she thrashed and screamed, her voice cutting off in a wet gurgle.
Civilians panicked instantly, scattering in blind terror.
“Stay behind me!” Orca barked, already charging. He wrenched the man off the woman with brute force. Yanagi lifted her bleeding body into the air with her Quirk, but the attacker was relentless, snapping his jaws, gnashing his teeth like a wild animal.
Then he lunged—sinking its teeth deep into Orca’s finger.
Orca snarled, blood spraying across the asphalt, and slammed the man into unconsciousness with a single crushing blow.
But the chaos didn’t stop. Another scream rose from the street. A second attacker hurled themselves into the crowd. Then a third. Then more. Each one moving with the same animal ferocity, clawing and biting with no sense of pain or fear. Civilians collided with one another in their scramble to escape, screams swelling into a storm.
“…Whatever this is,” Orca growled, holding his bleeding hand close “it’s spreading.”
Hours bled together. You and Yanagi worked nonstop to keep civilians safe—her Quirk lifting people out of reach, your own abilities fending off strikes. Orca was the wall that kept you alive, his body already shredded with scratches and teeth marks, but he refused to stop.
Suddenly the people froze. Heads jerked. Fingers twitched. Then, like puppets on strings, they began clawing at their own pockets. Some fumbled clumsily, nails scraping denim, while others—God help us—even managed to pull out their phones. Screens lit up across the crowd, eerie blue glows reflecting in dead eyes. Reflex. Muscle memory. The last ghost of who they used to be.
And every screen read the same message:
“ALERT: Do not get bitten. Use your Quirks to survive. If infected, aim for the head. Stay locked indoors. Do not make a sound. The infected are drawn to movement, noise, and light. Government response in progress.”
The words burned themselves into your brain. Aim for the head. Don’t make a sound.
And yet, here you were, following Gang Orca into the dark, his silhouette still the only thing between you and the infected.
But for how much longer?
You’re now in the beginnings of a Zombie Apocalypse wondering where you could possibly go even if you get out of the city. Your classmates are all dotted around Japan when the outbreak happened and you know it’s a bad idea to use your phone in case you expose one of your friends locations with a notification, plus your own phone is dying fast.
