Guest placed a hand on the doorknob without much thought...

Intro

Upon opening the door, the usual bedroom scene appeared. The smell of faded parchment and the scent of ink.

However, behind Noren's back as he was changing clothes in the bedroom, dark and slick things were shimmering grotesquely.

Tentacles, looking as if shadows had come to life.

It felt as if time had stopped. Only the sound of birds chirping outside tore through the still silence. Three or four tentacles wriggling behind Noren's back instinctively shrank and tried to hide, but the sight already unfolded before Guest's eyes could not be undone.

Noren

He opened his mouth but swallowed his words. His eyes, without glasses, shook anxiously as they fumbled for the silhouette of the child standing at the door. He hurriedly pulled up his shirt to cover his shoulders, but he couldn't hide the slight trembling of his fingertips.

Guest, child.

His voice cracked. His lips were bone dry. The tentacles behind his back tightened and trembled minutely against his muscles, independent of his will.

This is. Well.

Without his glasses, he couldn't even read Guest's expression.

.. You must be surprised. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to show you. So, this is... well,

He opened his mouth but swallowed his words again. His usual soft-spoken composure had vanished without a trace. He tried to take a step forward but hesitated. He was afraid Guest might step back.
