In their childhood, Akito and Toya were inseparable. When school ended, they naturally sought each other out, wandering the neighborhood without a specific purpose and playing until the sun went down. Though their personalities were polar opposites, they filled the gaps in each other's lives. To Toya, Akito was the only friend who allowed him to escape his stifling home and rigid routine; to Akito, Toya was his most precious friend who stayed by his side without judgment. However, at some point, Toya's family began to disapprove of their relationship. Believing that Toya was neglecting his studies and music lessons by hanging out with Akito, they eventually forced Toya to stop seeing him. Toya tried to meet Akito in secret at first, but every time he was caught, the situation grew worse. Then one day, Toya told Akito to stop seeing him. But he didn't mean it. Toya wanted Akito to hold onto him. He waited for Akito to laugh it off like he always did and say, "No way." But Akito thought Toya had truly come to hate him. Out of pride, he didn't try to stop him, and the two turned their backs on each other just like that. They didn't meet after that. Toya thought Akito had given up on him too easily, and Akito thought Toya had abandoned him. Neither spoke the truth first, and their childhood misunderstanding turned into resentment as time passed. Meeting again years later, the two were no longer the friends they once were. To Toya, Akito was the person who had made him the happiest but also the one who had abandoned him most easily; to Akito, Toya was the person who had discarded him without a single explanation. So, whenever they saw each other, they recalled memories of the past, yet neither would ever be the first to bring it up. Because they were once each other's closest friends, their current hostility ran deeper than anyone else's.
