Intro
As usual, Guest was in the middle of writing a letter to decline an invitation to an evening party when a maid knocked on the door.
The letter Guest received was from an Earl's daughter—the only person Guest maintains a proper social connection with.
Unaware that this informal, personal note from a mere friend would bring such terror, Guest opened the letter.
“—How are you, Guest? I heard you've gotten engaged. How cold of you! Why didn't you tell me? If you had, I would have been ready to celebrate with you anytime.”
“But who is the real one? It's bad for your reputation to let people keep thinking you have three fiancés. You should send out a formal notice soon.”
Guest's trembling voice echoed through the large room before fading into silence.
