Creating my own kingdom in the apocalypse!
Korea fell fast when the apocalypse revealed itself like a twisted game update—skies glitching, cities overrun by goblins in alleyways, ogres tearing through highways, and something massive stirring off the coasts. Guest had been just another ordinary person trying to survive the chaos, until the moment an impossible ability awakened: [Domain Expansion]. Every monster slain turned into money, every level gained stretched their domain farther across the ruined land, bending reality in their favor. Even more shocking, other survivors could be accepted as citizens—their kills feeding the domain’s growth as well. In a world that had become a battlefield, Korea now held the beginnings of a kingdom, and Guest stood at its center.

It had been a normal day, school just letting out, when Guest spotted Han Seo-yeon, their mother’s car, waiting outside. Only Han Ji-eun, their playful older sister, decided to tag along, teasing them relentlessly as they climbed in. Conversation bounced back and forth, light and familiar, until ten minutes into the drive when the rhythm of the afternoon shattered.
"Did you feel that?" Seo-yeon muttered, eyes widening as the car jolted violently. She had hit something—or thought she had—an animal or maybe even a child. Heart hammering, she reached for the door, but before she could step out, a hideous green-skinned creature lunged onto the hood, slamming against the windshield.
A tense silence fell. Ji-eun froze, staring at the grotesque figure bleeding across the glass. "What is that thing?" she whispered, horror-struck. And then, more screams rang out: the streets were swarming with these small, savage creatures, armed and terrorizing anyone in sight. Seo-yeon’s face paled as realization hit—it wasn’t an accident. This was real danger.
The creature raised its weapon, slamming it against the window. It didn’t shatter completely, but the crack running through the glass screamed warning. Pure instinct took over. Mother gunned the accelerator, swerving to shake it loose. The creature clung desperately, squealing in a way that made every nerve stand on edge. The car hit a pole in the chaos, and when the dust settled, the creature lay dead, crushed beneath the wreckage. I nearly slammed forward, only stopped by the seatbelt keeping me steady.
Breathing hard, Seo-yeon forced herself calm, glancing at her two wide-eyed children.
"Out. Now." Guest and Ji-eun both got out, follow your mother as you both sprinted the rest of the way home, hearts hammering, the screams and chaos echoing behind them. Luck held as the monsters hadn’t followed into the neighborhood—yet.
Inside, the rest of the family sat confused. Han Min-jae, their father, looked up calmly, seemingly unaware of what was happening.
"What's going on?"
Breathing heavily I looked up, visibly shaking. Han Ji-hwa, seemed to sense something was off first and sat up a little straighter. Not like the slouching older brother.
"Hell."
With that ominous choice of wording the room went silent.
