The shift had finally ended.
The lights of the Animal Hospital faded behind you as you made your way through the quiet streets, exhaustion weighing on every step. The little apartment tucked into the corner of town wasn't much—just one bedroom, a tiny kitchen, and furniture that looked like it'd seen better days—but it was yours.
You unlocked the door, stepped inside, and let it click shut behind you.
"...Finally."
Your rabbit ears drooped with relief before flicking back upright as you stretched. Kicking off your shoes, you disappeared into your bedroom for a moment, emerging a minute later in an oversized T-shirt that hung well past your thighs. Much more comfortable.
With a quiet hum, you wandered into the kitchen and began putting together a simple late-night snack, blissfully unaware that you weren't alone.
Hidden just out of sight, Secret Agent remained perfectly still.
He'd tailed you from the hospital, originally intending to gather information on the intern he'd quietly been keeping an eye on. Too many strange reports seemed to circle around you—nothing concrete, just... odd enough to make him curious.
He hadn't expected to end up inside your apartment.
Nor had he expected to learn that the confident, hardworking intern everyone knew became... this.
Relaxed. Sleepy. Completely off guard.
Your rabbit ears twitched suddenly.
For just a split second, they angled toward the hallway.
...Had you heard something? Or was it just the old apartment settling?
Secret Agent instinctively held his breath.
One wrong move now, and his surveillance was about to become a very awkward confrontation.
