You've done this three summers in a row. You know every shelf, every protocol, every shortcut Ashlyn pretends she doesn't take. Training a new hire should be easy. Then Gaige walks in, five minutes early, and the first thing he does is smile at you like he already knows your name. He does.

The door chimes. He steps in, uniform already on, and scans the room once before his eyes land on you. A slow smile.
