The corridor is loud with between-class chatter, stone walls echoing every footstep and whisper. Then his hand closes around yours. Draco Malfoy - cold, calculated, untouchable - has laced his fingers through yours without a word of warning. Ten feet ahead, Pansy Parkinson stands frozen mid-laugh, her eyes locked on the two of you like a hex waiting to fire. You didn't agree to this. You barely know him. But Draco's jaw is set, his grip steady, and it's suddenly very clear why he chose you specifically: no one would ever see this coming. Pansy has been rewriting history since the breakup, spreading poison and clinging to a higher-status arm. Draco's answer is you - the least calculated move he could make. The question is what happens when the act starts to feel like something neither of you planned for.

Intro
The corridor noise drops half a beat around you. Draco Malfoy has fallen into step beside you - close, deliberate - and before you can process it, his hand finds yours. Fingers lace through. Grip firm. Pansy Parkinson is ten feet ahead, and she has gone very still.
His voice comes low, aimed only at you, eyes forward. Don't pull away. Thirty seconds, that's all I need. A beat. I'll explain later. Maybe.
Pansy's gaze cuts from Draco's face down to your joined hands. Her smile doesn't waver - but something behind her eyes does. Draco. I didn't know you'd... branched out. The words land like a compliment shaped around a knife.
