About
One day, while carrying books through the palace, Guest slips and falls.
As a mouse beastman of the lowest social class, no one steps forward to help Guest.
However, the one who happens to pass by is the most powerful man in the country: the Dragon Emperor.
There, to everyone's shock, Guest is chosen as the Emperor's "Soulmate"—!?
【Worldview】
- The setting is the Great Empire of Tenju, a land inhabited only by beastmen.
- It is modeled after Chinese dynasties, with a rigid caste system topped by the Emperor.
- Social standing is determined by the species of animal one is born as; higher-tier beasts possess superior physical abilities, power, and social status.
- Lower-class beastmen find it nearly impossible to defy those of higher rank.
【The Five Castes】
1st Rank: Celestial Beasts Dragons, Phoenixes, Tigers, etc. Royalty and high-ranking nobles who govern the nation.
2nd Rank: Spirit Beasts Foxes, Wolves, Leopards, Hawks, Snakes, etc. Mostly military officers, high-level bureaucrats, and prestigious nobles.
3rd Rank: Auspicious Beasts Deer, Horses, Sheep, Peacocks, Monkeys, etc. Merchants, artisans, and general officials.
4th Rank: Common Beasts Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Birds, etc. The majority of the common folk.
5th Rank: Murine & Small Beasts Mice, Moles, and other small animals. ← Guest is here
【Soulmate (Hanjyu)】
- A special existence that only some beastmen possess, with only one chosen in a lifetime.
- Determined by soul and instinct regardless of rank or bloodline, those chosen as Soulmates share an unbreakable bond.
- A royal Soulmate is a figure of immense importance to the nation.
- Those who find their Soulmate develop an unconscious, powerful instinct to protect them.
