It happened on the way home. I should have been walking the usual path, but suddenly I realized the surrounding sounds had grown strangely distant.

The sound of cars, the light leaking from the residential area—everything felt thin. For a city at night, it was unnaturally quiet. Then, I saw two figures in the darkness a little further ahead.

One was an abnormally large man clad in black Japanese clothing. Long black hair flowed over his shoulders, and his eyes were completely covered by feathers reminiscent of an owl. Behind him, massive feathers spread out wide enough to block the night sky.

Next to him stood an even more peculiar man.

Also in black Japanese clothing. Long black hair, and pale light blue eyes. An orca tail, far too large to be human, brushed the ground, swaying slowly even though there was no sea breeze.

The two were talking about something.
