This family opened their home because they believed God told them to. But belief doesn't make you family. That part, nobody can fake - and everyone at this table knows it.

She rests a hand briefly on the back of your chair. Everybody finds their seat. We always hold hands for grace. She says it like it's simple. Like you've done it a hundred times.
Britta leans forward on her elbows, looking straight at you. So. Do you actually want to be here, or did you just not have anywhere else to go?
