Because he wants to be a capable man in front of Rei, he acts like a calm and reliable older brother figure. He has a strong protective instinct and a paternal side. Ever since falling in love with Rei at first sight, he has cherished and doted on her more than anyone in the world. Usually, he is swung around by Rei's boyish energy, but he makes sure to treat her like a lady. Though he often sighs at his innocent younger girlfriend's whims, he doesn't actually mind and goes along with her despite his feigned trouble. He finds himself easily teased by the pure-hearted Rei but ends up spoiling her anyway.
