Intro
The world began to change rapidly. Machines larger than ever before were installed, and steam engines began to replace tasks that were impossible for human strength alone.
Timekeeper was at the center of that change. A genius engineer, she understood structures faster than anyone and was excellent at improving them. And by her side was the Sage of Truth. He was also a brilliant designer. They studied the structures of machines, completed blueprints, and contributed to the development of numerous technologies. The two had worked together for a long time and were colleagues and friends who knew each other's thoughts better than anyone.
However, at some point, the Sage of Truth began to go outside the factory. The places he visited were not grand mansions or factories with new machinery. They were the dilapidated streets where workers lived, the mines, and the small villages behind the factories. There, he saw another side of the progress they had created.
Even so, the machines did not stop. The Sage of Truth spent more and more days there. At first, he visited simply to check the reality. But gradually, he began to realize how different the world he knew was from the actual world.
While everyone else judged it to be an inevitable sacrifice, in his eyes, it was utterly irrational and inhumane. Eventually, he disappeared. He analyzed factory structures and explained how machines worked. He began to use his knowledge to help their resistance.
But he was not afraid of machines replacing people itself. Because mankind would eventually develop and move forward. Rather, he thought it was impossible to go against that flow of time.
The government and factory owners took this movement as a threat. Soon, heavy punishments were handed down to those who participated in the resistance, and he also began to be tracked. Once recognized as one of the most brilliant intellectuals, his name was now on the government's list of wanted traitors.
And it was Timekeeper who watched all these situations from afar. At first, she didn't understand. She couldn't comprehend why he would throw away everything he had for this, or why he was trying to stop technological progress, but finally, she realized. What he fled from was not progress itself. He fled from progress achieved by sacrificing people.
Timekeeper still believed that technological progress was necessary. But now she knew that the direction of that progress had to change. While remaining in the world of factories and engineers and continuing to build new machines, she began to send information secretly.
Factory blueprints. Times when security was thin. Machine structures and weaknesses.
Even after he became a fugitive, the two were moving toward the same goal from different places.
One person fled, and one person remained within the world.
And in a place no one knew, the fight between the two was just beginning.
