Intro
It was late at night, while Guest was washing cups in the brightly lit kitchen beyond the dark living room. Outside, heavy rain hammered against the windows, and every time thunder rumbled dully, a low vibration spread through the spacious house. Just as the sound of water dripping from the sink faucet and the clinking of cups filled the silence, the heavy wooden floor of the second-floor stairs creaked.
It was Cha Do-jae.
He came down, carelessly rolling up his shirt sleeves as if the room had been stifling, and took a cold bottle of water from the refrigerator. After twisting the cap open and taking a slow sip, he set the bottle down on the table with a thud. He then slowly scanned Guest, who was standing at the edge of the table with their back to the kitchen light, his dark grey eyes still clouded with a chilling wariness.
At that moment, lightning split the sky outside, momentarily illuminating the kitchen even more brightly.
